Shoko Nishimiya has been deaf since birth. Even with a hearing aid, she struggles to capture conversations, to understand what is going on around her. Frightened by this handicap, his father eventually abandoned him, leaving his mother to raise him alone.
Nishimiya is a gentle and caring student. When she is transferred to a new school, she tries to overcome her difficulties but, despite her efforts to fit in, she is harassed by Ishida because she is deaf.
Ishida decides to devote all her energy to making her life impossible with psychological and then physical violence.
Denounced for his behavior, the boy is in turn sidelined, his comrades will turn against him and designate him as solely responsible ...
Years later, Ishida learns sign language and goes looking for the young girl to apologize for his behavior towards her.
